I would describe myself as an obsessive seeker of, and investor in, transformational trends and technologies, skills that have served me well in my position as CEO of The Vantage Group, a South Florida-based private equity firm and specialized business consultancy serving early stage companies.

I founded the firm in 1998, and since then have pursued an investment strategy largely centered on providing capital and capital formation advice and counsel to dozens of visionary industry pioneers intent on positively and profitably impacting the world.

Truth be told, not every ‘game-changing’ investment I’ve made over the past 25 years has resulted in huge financial gains. In fact, I’ve lost a small fortune on numerous occasions. But what I’ve learned from those experiences has helped to make me a much smarter, more astute and successful investor.

I consider myself a tireless worker, and I have invested in a large range of global markets, though I am currently focused on emerging verticals such as Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT),  Cannabis, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Connected Devices.

I believe DLT will revolutionize global economics — that it will be a game-changer for how financial transactions are made and wealth is managed in the future — and further believe that IoT is the fastest-growing industry in history.

It is only a matter of time, really, before virtually everything we do at work, at home and at play will be enabled in one fashion or another by electronic connectivity.

My concentration in the cannabis field is on Cannatech (i.e., technology and innovation) and cannabidiol (CBD), the compounds in the cannabis plant resulting in the greatest  medicinal and therapeutic effects.

In my opinion, weed is here to stay. As more states approve medical/recreational use, the longstanding social stigma associated with marijuana consumption by the mainstream public will give way to mad, mass adoption due to the numerous health benefits it is proving to deliver.

While the business of investing can be a roller-coaster ride, I am continually motivated and excited by ongoing projects that I believe will significantly impact and improve how people work, live and play — some of which are on a local or regional basis, others that can affect how business is conducted on a global scale.

I was shaped by my late father, a senior marketing executive and business owner who developed advertising campaigns for Fortune 500 companies, as well as pharmaceutical brands.

Business-building was rooted in his DNA. He thrived on thinking outside the box to breathe life into new, cutting-edge ventures, products and service offerings.   Watching him work – and watching him think — was both intoxicating and inspiring.

Ever since then I have tried to apply that same approach to everything I’ve done. And I will continue to do so, going forward.
